As adults age, new opportunities and challenges are experienced. While obvious changes in physical mobility are often emphasized, related influences on social relationships and inter-generational learning are also impacted. We want to provide programming to meet these new needs while expanding on these opportunities. See below for programs offered exclusively for seniors:
5.1: Building Social Relationships
A. Talk over Tea
To promote socialization amongst seniors, we will provide weekly opportunities for members to come together and socialize. Tea and snacks, popular socio- cultural practices among various populations, will be provided.
B. Intergenerational Story-Telling
There is a tendency for elders to feel disconnected from younger generations despite an opportunity for intergenerational learning. This program provides youth and elders a communal space to share stories of their past. This would promote community building while allowing traditionally segregated populations to not only socialize but grow together.
5.2: Physical Activities
A. Out in the Park
This weekly program allows elders to improve physical fitness in a communal outdoor environment.
